Anxious for Nothing

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6, NASB)

TODAY’S WORD

So many people today are living uptight, worried and anxious about the future, filled with frustration and concern.  In the natural there may be good reason, but understand, that is not God’s best.  God doesn’t want us to live in anxiety and frustration; He wants us to live in peace.  You can find rest in Him knowing that no matter what is happening around you, God Almighty has His hand on you.

The next time you’re tempted to worry or be anxious about something, remember this verse.  God invites us to come to Him.  In fact, the Bible says He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  But notice, we can’t just come to Him any old way.  He wants us to come to Him with a heart of gratitude and thanksgiving.  Begin by simply saying, “Father in heaven, thank You for the privilege to come before You.  Thank You for hearing my prayers.”  As you come to Him with an open and humble heart, He will hear you and fill you with His peace and joy all the days of your life.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, today I choose to be anxious for nothing.  I choose to set aside my worries and concerns.  I thank You for Your faithfulness to meet every need in my life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Inexpressible and Glorious Joy

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.” (I Peter 1:8, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD

Do you need more joy in your life?  This verse tells us that when we choose to believe in God, we are filled with His joy.  And not just any kind of joy ? inexpressible and glorious joy!  Have you ever seen someone filled with inexpressible joy over something?  Their face is beaming, their heart is pounding.  They can hardly contain themselves.  They are so excited they can’t think of anything else.  They have so much confidence over what they know that nothing can take away their joy.  As believers, that’s how we should be.  We should be confident in the goodness of God and filled with His inexpressible and glorious joy!

I encourage you today to be bold and believe God.  Get to know Him better by knowing His Word.  Hold His promises close to your heart so that you can be filled with His confidence and joy all the days of your life.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your joy unspeakable and full of glory. I choose to believe You and trust in Your goodness.  I invite you to search my heart and remove anything that would keep me from all You have in store.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

He Works All Things Together

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28, NLT)

TODAY’S WORD

Everyone goes through things that don’t seem to make sense. It’s easy to get discouraged and wonder, “Why did this happen to me?” “Why did this person treat me wrong?” “Why did I get laid off?” But we have to understand, even though life is not always fair, God is fair. And He promises to work all things together for good for those who love Him.

I believe the key word in this verse is “together.” In other words, you can’t just isolate one part of your life and say, “Well, this is not good.” “It’s not good that I got laid off.” “It’s not good that my relationship didn’t work out.” Yes, that’s true, but that’s just one part of your life. God can see the big picture. That disappointment is not the end. Remember, when one door closes, God has another door for you to walk through ? a better door. Those difficulties and challenges are merely stepping stones toward your brighter future. Be encouraged today because God has a plan for you to rise higher. He has a plan for you to come out stronger. He has a plan to work all things together for your good so that you can move forward in the victory He has prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for working all things together for my good. I choose to release any doubt, any frustration, any confusion over my past, and I choose to trust in You. In Jesus’n Name, Amen.
